I wanted my new case to have good cooling, be quiet, easy to work on, have good space and look subtle and smart. It is a good case but I think the Define 7XL is a better watercooling case. I was looking at the Lian Li PC-O11 DXL too but I wasnt going for bling and that case has been done to death. I might post my rebuild when I start the hardtube upgrade.įor anyone thats interested the X79 platform with 4960X is still no slouch with a RTX2080Ti - still getting between 150FPS to 300FPS 3840x1600 ultranightmare settings on Doom Eternal and 70FPS in RDR2. Very happy with the case and much easier to work on than poking around in my 19" rack and fussing over quick disconnects whenever I want to change things! The old beast was built for a different time with 2 x 1500W powersupplies and Quad SLI GTX580s.
FRACTAL DEFINE 7XL FULL
The system is whisper quiet with fans 800RPM when doing light duties and 1800RPM at full load after an hour.
FRACTAL DEFINE 7XL PC
I've gone completely the other way - no RGB.Īfter running a cooling system outside for 5 years in a mountainmods case the fans were all dying and it needed a major service and I also wanted to move the PC out of my 19" rack back next to the desk because the 10M optical Displayport cables kept overheating and causing monitor sync issues. I did a quick soft tube build but will be redoing my first hardtube on it. Transplanted the Rampage IV Extreme 4960X and RTX2080Ti. I reused 2 x Blackice 360 RADS with Corsair ML120 fans (2400rpm non-RGB). Re-defining CapacityIntroducing the Define 7 XL, setting a new standard from what you should expect from a full tower chassis in terms of modularity. We always appreciate removable radiator trays, but this one should make working with tubing especially easy.Very nice Job - I've just done a rebuild in the Define 7 XL myself. The top radiator mount is a removable tray, but even more so than usual, allowing most of the top of the case to be lifted off rather than just a discrete tray. Unlike previous iterations, Fractal's Define 7 will receive an XL variant, allowing Fractal to replace its ageing Define R2 XL. Im building this PC more for the wow factor and to see if i can do a half decent job at custom loop water cooling. With this generation, Fractal has decided to drop its R-series brand name, instead favouring a simpler numbered naming scheme. What's the difference between define 7 and define 7 XL? This is something very few cases get right, because “E-ATX” doesn’t really mean anything when it comes to a defined width at least, not in the same way that ATX does.
